A.As stated in our company motto, ``Integrity, Creativity, and Forward Progress,'' our previous chairman placed the utmost importance on moving forward rather than simply maintaining the status quo. I feel that I was able to inherit something from my predecessor, who was also his father and the president of the company (at the time), the tenacity to innovate even in the same task and go one step ahead in development. . From our founding spirit, I learned something like ``a spirit of inquiry toward manufacturing,'' and I will continue to cherish this.
A. Our predecessor, who worked as an engineer at a company in Osaka, turned his attention to epoxy resin and founded the company. At the time, epoxy was a new material with great promise for future applications, so we decided to develop this material so that it could be used for a variety of purposes, which was the impetus for starting our company. Terada Co., Ltd. is what you would call an owner-operated company, and its predecessors were also very monopolistic (lol), but I think they were very lucky... When the company was first established, it started doing business with NTT (formerly known as the Telephone and Telecommunications Public Corporation, which was privatized in 1985), dealing in joint resin for electric cables, and its business expanded throughout Japan.
A. In the chaos of the post-war period, I took about 10 of my employees with me, mixed the resin products by hand and roasted them with gas, loaded them onto a cart, and drove them to the factory in Minamisuna (Koto Ward) on the steep Eitaibashi bridge. I once heard a story of someone going over a hill to deliver something over 500kg. Looking back at the time when I joined the company, there was a generation gap between the ages of 23 and 65, so I didn't know anything about the company, so I was constantly being scolded and learning every day.
Q.Why did the president join Terada Co., Ltd.? Please tell us why you decided to become a second-generation president. |
A. To be honest, I had no intention of joining the company at first (lol). While studying industrial engineering at Waseda University, I actually thought that I wanted to work at an investment bank. The employment environment has become a seller's market these days, but the economy was good when I started working, and it was common for people to get job offers from around 1 companies. However, my predecessor was also not in good health and was elderly, and one day in my fourth year of university, my predecessor asked me to help out with him.I thought about it a lot, but I decided to join the company because I had no choice but to do it. Did.
A. Immediately after joining the company, I became the manager of the president's office, and I started out carrying bags, went on business trips, and even went golfing, and was taught business management in the field. She served as a conduit between the company president and employees, and focused on how best to convey the company president's intentions. To be frank, I had a hard time expressing my original opinions.
After that, I gained experience as managing director and became vice president 10 years later, but was demoted to managing director within three months (lol). I believe this was caused by something I said directly about a certain job, but now I feel that it was just the rashness of my youth. I was often called upon on Saturdays and Sundays, and was thoroughly trained in business administration.

A.My driving force is to contribute to society by developing technology centered on industrial materials. Terada Co., Ltd.'s technology is difficult for the general public to understand and rarely comes into contact with their eyes, but on the other hand, it is used in many familiar products that will probably make you wonder, "Is this even used in something like that?" It is used. Also, I am very happy to see the growth of my colleagues (employees) that I work with. Let's do our best today too! That's what I feel like.
A. It is said that a company needs people, goods, and money, but I feel that it is really difficult to develop human resources. It takes 10 years to acquire and develop talent. It's been nearly 20 years since I became president, but we've finally assembled the right personnel, and sales have improved and started to stabilize. When running a company, you must not give up on yourself even if there are various problems. I think it's important to remain calm.
A. Above all, when we are able to recruit good personnel. I feel happy when I meet someone with different abilities than myself. Also, we are overwhelmed with emotion when the products we have worked so hard to plan and develop come out into the world. As someone who is involved in manufacturing, I feel very moved.
A. Ryoma Sakamoto. Boldness, the way he seems to be expressing his own intentions but not expressing them. I think his ability to reform, adjust, and start a business is amazing. I also have a lot of respect for Yozan Uesugi. I'm impressed by his perseverance and ability to realize his vision by steadily sticking to his policies and ultimately turning them into something bigger.
A. It has been a little more than a year since the coronavirus pandemic began, and the social and economic environment is extremely difficult. We believe that reviewing the way we work and expanding and changing our business areas will be the key to our future development. From 1, we have started transforming our work styles by making full use of IT. New businesses that we have been seeding for several years are starting to take off. We would like to become a company that contributes to the present and future of the earth and society, and where all of our employees can be proud of our activities.
A. We will be launching many new businesses from now on, and we will be thinking of unique businesses for each business, so I would like you to bring bright hopes and a spirit of challenge. While carefully protecting our existing technologies and assets, we will continue to actively invest in "manufacturing" and actively communicate Terada's development capabilities to the world.
